The term ‘glitch’ is used in electrical engineering to indicate a brief and sudden peak in a waveform, caused by an unpredictable error. By extension it now refers to a short system defect in various fields of electronics.
It is thought that the English word ‘glitch’ comes from the German ‘glitschen’ (slide) and yiddish word ‘gletshn’ (slip, skate).
