In questo corto animato, Chris Landreth ritorna con una storia struggente che ci parla del rapporto tra un uomo e una donna intrappolata in una spirale di distruzione reciproca dopo 26 anni di matrimonio. La continua serrata ricerca estetica dell’autore qui trova una sua esaltazione nella applicazione di una grafica in 3D che contorce le rappresentazione dei protagonisti le cui apparenze fisiche sono metaforiche.

Questo è un breve film d’animazione che ho fatto quando mi sono chiesto – come fanno le coppie a stare insieme, anche quando tutto l’amore sembra perduto? Nella storia del lungo matrimonio tra Dan e Maria Rutherford, ho fantasticato sulle risposte. In alcuni momenti sono tragici e vili, in altri sono belli e nobili. – Chris Landreth

In this animated short, Chris Landreth returns with a poignant story of redemption that takes us into the relationship between a man and a woman trapped in a spiral of mutual destruction after 26 years of marriage. The Spine continues Landreth’s pursuit of a twisted, beautiful and highly original visual aesthetic, using digital imagery to create characters whose physical appearances are metaphors for their unique souls.

This is an animated short film I did as I was wondering–how do couples stay together, even when all love seems lost? In this story, of a 26-year-old marriage between Dan and Mary Rutherford, I fantasize about answers. Some are tragic and cowardly, but some are beautiful and noble. Chris Landreth
