PICCOLO FESTIVAL ANIMAZIONE 13^ EDIZIONE

online edition

27-30 December 2020

Ancora grazie a tutti!

The theme of this year’s Festival is Poetry, and it seems particulary nice how in the opening credits created by Pierre Bourrigault with music by Lorenzo Tomio we are able to ear the echo of the golden age of the beat generation!

A desire for freedom, for open spaces, for a conversation in a park where nothing special happens, which is also what makes it special.

Therefore we would like to spend these last days of the year with you, despite being anchored in our internet spacecraft, but with our mind stimulated by images and stories within animated short films that we are suggesting you through their different programs: the choice is yours!

All the films are made by authors coming from an increasingly fervent and lively international scene that is able brings back to us some original voices and ways of expression, which include renowned masters such as Piotr Dumala, Simone Massi, Yamamura Koji, Rastko Ćirić, Theodore Ushev, Gianluigi Toccafondo , Michele Bernardi, as well as other younger authors, including many beginners; and together, precisely because of their various geographical and generational perspectives, are able to make us travel through our eyes and minds even in spite of this current lockdown state.
Like many other festivals we have had to adapt to the situation, and we will showcase special events and contents which, although they could never replace a face to face meeting, will keep alive the correspondence between authors and field-operators, along with our audience, through a very dense intertwining (also at an organizational level) of remote meetings by all possible means. Which will eventually demonstrate how important it is for all of us to keep seeing each other and enjoy those films even if only through some computer screens.

We thank all of our partners who supported us this year as well, and our networks of collaborators without whom we wouldn’t have been able to experiment this online version of Piccolo Festival Animazione in its 13th edition.

We thank the members of the two technical juries consisting of: Paola Orlić (Animafest dir.), Kreet Paljas (Anilogue dir.) And Marino Guarnieri (Asifa) for the Main Competition Program; and Jlenia Biffi (Coppelia Theater), Tullio Avoledo (writer) and Mauro Carraro (author) for the Visual & Music and Poetry & Animation film programs.

Along with these two technical juries there are a special added juries of students from the elementary classes of Udine and from the secondary schools of Tolmezzo, respectively overseeing the Animakids and Animayoung sections.

On our website you will find the newest updates as well as the information for accessing the Vimeo Premium channel where, form the 27th to the 30th of December, you can select the programs of your choice with all the Festival’s films. All the other programs will be for free, with the exception of the 3 Main Competition Programs which will have a cost of 2 euros each. All the additional special programs with invited guests and authors, will have a fixed frequency within our “live spritz” segments that will take place live from 18:00 to 19:00.

The festival will begin with an Open Ceremony on Sunday the 27th of December at 21:00 and will conclude with a Closing Ceremony on Wednesday the 30th also at 21:00.

Moreover, some pre-Festival appointments will precede these days of tight film programming.

On December 7th in collaboration with Sottodiciotto festival we will present the film “Cipollino” in its Russian version with Italian subtitles.

On December 16th there will be a masterclass with Focus 3D, aimed at the schools and Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.

Finally, at the Piccolo Festival dell’Animazione head quarter, located at studiovivacomix, you can find an exhibition dedicated to Romeo Toffanetti, “Visions of Portus Naonis Futura”, which, while hoping to reopening it soon, you can now visit through an online video walkthrough.

Thanks again to everyone!
