Il Festival che ha il dono dell’ubiquità! | The Festival that has the gift of ubiquity!

Nella 12° edizione del PFA assistiamo a una espansione territoriale e ad un accavallarsi di richieste di proiezioni che fa ben sperare nel futuro del cinema di animazione.
L’edizione del 2019 si contraddistingue però per la presenza di 2 lungometraggi realizzati da due giganti dello storytelling: Lorenzo Mattotti e Igort. Due film molto diversi, per tecnica e approccio narrativo, il primo è un film d’animazione classico tratto dall’omonimo libro di Dino Buzzati: “La famosa invasione degli orsi in Sicilia”, il secondo è un film con solo alcuni intermezzi animati che parte dal libro dello stesso regista: “5 è il Numero Perfetto”. Abbiamo pensato a una comunicazione sul festival proprio come un “Attenti a quei due!” tanto sono paralleli i percorsi artistici di Igort e Mattotti che pure nelle loro diversità di stile si possono considerare due imprescindibili autori nella scena internazionale del fumetto e ora del cinema.
Come corollario ai film si sono proposte anche le mostre “Dal libro al Grande Schermo”, titolo che accomuna la scelta curatoriale che vede esposti materiali relativi ai libri, al back-stage, foto e disegni.
Per quanto riguarda gli eventi performativi che accompagnano il festival segnaliamo la proposta di una altro fumettista celebre: Davide Toffolo, “Graphic Novel is Back” e poi altri appuntamenti con accoppiate di musicisti e animatori: “Flusso” e “Planet of Falling Paths”, dove si esibiranno Cosimo Miorelli con Massimo De Mattia e Stefano Giust e ancora Stefano Giust con Patrizia Oliva e Igor Imhoff. Verrà presentato il progetto “Tesla” al Conservatorio Giuseppe Tartini di Trieste che ha visto la partecipazione dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, il Conservatorio e la Faculty of Applied Arts di Belgrado. Poi le presentazioni editoriali di Marco Capellacci, Roberto Paci Dalò e Andrea Martignoni, Roberto Paganelli. Eventi che si rincorrono nelle principali sedi del Festival da Trieste a Pordenone a Udine.
I programmi dei cortometraggi vedono la selezione di circa 80 film provenienti da tutto il mondo, molti in prima assoluta per l’Italia. Tra gli autori coinvolti: Regina Pessoa, Theodore Ushev, Danijel Zezelj, Michael Frei, Donato Sansone, Anu aura Tuttelberg, Luka Toth… Sarà una bella gara per la giuria composta da Andrijana Ruži, Igor Imhoff e Carlo Montanaro.
Ai programmi principali si aggiungono Visual&Music il cui vincitore otterrà il Premio Toffolo: un disegno realizzato dall’artista pordenonese. Inoltre i programmi Panorama, Animakids e Aniayoung selezionati da Giovanni Sgrò che coadiuva i referenti per le scuole delle organizzazioni partner del Festival per un coinvolgimento degli studenti che è sempre più numeroso e attivo nei laboratori. Saranno presenti lo Studio Bozzetto alle proiezioni a Udine per le scuole, inoltre a ricordare la Storia dell’Animazione, verrà presentato uno degli episodi del celebre Professor Balthazar!
Tra i programmi anche Cosmo dedicato all’anniversario dello sbarco sulla Luna con la partecipazione di Milen Alempijevic, direttore di Animanima.
Come finale del Festival segnaliamo a Trieste al Cinema Miela “La Festa del Paradiso” prodotta da Wundekammer e di cui il PFA è partner, la nostra dedica al genio di Leonardo da Vinci nell’anniversario celebrato quest’anno.

In the 12th edition of the PFA we are witnessing a territorial expansion and overlapping screenings requests that gives us hope for the future of animated cinema.

The 2019 edition, however, is distinguished by the presence of two feature films made by two giants of storytelling: Lorenzo Mattotti and Igort. Two very different films, in terms of technique and narrative approach: the first is a classic animated movie adapted from a Dino Buzzati’s book with the same name “The famous invasion of bears in Sicily”; the second one is a live action film with only some animated interludes adapted from the book “5 is the Perfect Number”.

As corollary to the films, there are also the exhibitions “From the book to the Big Screen”, a title that links the curator’s choice of showcasing materials related to books, back-stage, photos and drawings.

As for the performative events that will accompany the festival, we recommend the one of another famous cartoonist: Davide Toffolo, “Graphic Novel IsBack–Unplugged” along with other appointments that will join musicians with animators such as: “Flusso” and “Planet of Falling Paths”, where Cosimo Miorelli will perform with Massimo De Mattia and Stefano Giust and Stefano Giust with Patrizia Oliva and Igor Imhoff. The “Tesla” project will be presented at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, with the participation of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, the Conservatory and the Faculty of Applied Arts of Belgrade.

This year’s short film programs include a selection of about 80 films from all over the world, many of which are world premieres in Italy. Among the authors involved: Regina Pessoa, Theodore Ushev, Danijel Žeželj, Michael Frei, Donato Sansone, Anu-Laura Tuttelberg, Luka Toth… It will definitively be an hard challenge for the jury composed of Andrijana Ružić, Igor Imhoff and Carlo Montanaro.

In addition to the main programs, there will be a Visual&Music program, the winner of which will receive the Davide Toffolo Prize, which consists of a drawing made by the author himself. During the screenings in Udine for the schools, there will be a presentation by The Bozzetto Studio, also aimed to remember the History of Animation, where will be presented one of the famous episodes of Professor Balthazar! Among the programs there will also be Cosmo, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, were will be presented the Augmented-Reality Flip Book “Apollo 11“ created by Jossie Malis with the composer Julie Reiner, and based on the videos of the Moon landing taken from the NASA archives, a year-long search that resumes the event in synchronized sequences from multiple angles.

As a Festival finale, we suggest you the event “The Paradise Festival” at the Miela Cinema in Trieste Produced by Wunderkammer one of PFA’s partners, which is our tribute to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci on the anniversary that we are celebrated this year.
